Why Go: I like that they serve fine French food but it feels California.  There is no pretense here, but excellent French technique.  You will not leave hungry! French elegance meets Carlsbad cool. Why Go: I love this cute breakfast/Lunch spot.  Pricey for lunch but you affordable enough to eat here frequently.  It skews more breakfast, but I tend to go around lunch time.  They offer globally inspired breakfast and lunch dishes plus inventive non-alcoholic cocktails served in a cozy outdoor setting.  It feels high end but also authentically local.  Get here earlier than you want to eat.  You will likely need to join a waitlist and hang out in the area a bit.

Why Go: I love that their dining room feels like a throwback, but not too dated.  It's a calm space and definitely not a lively scene. Chef Carl Schroeder's ingredient-forward cooking is timeless, refined, and deeply local. Enjoy the tasting menu in the dining room or check out the sushi bar.

Why Go: One of my primary restaurants for dinner.  They have a vibrant and bustling vibe for North County.  They offer seafood and more near Moonlight Beach.  Local oysters, wood-fired branzino, and creative cocktails make it a favorite for upscale casual nights out.  It's a good spot for kids if they are a little older, but not really for littles.
